Recycle This Year
For many people, New Year’s Eve and Day mean more parties, more football games to watch and resolutions to make.Are you one of those who make a resolution at the start of the new year? The new year is time to turn over anew leaf this year resolve to recycle appliances responsibly.
When you are about to invest in expensive appliances and electronics, you surely do a lot of research. But when it comes to disposing such electronics we never give it much of a thought? These appliances and electronics are made up of non-biodegradable parts; hence by just throwing them away we are increasing the amount of harmful junk that finally ends up in the landfills, and as a result harms the environment. It is worthwhile keeping in mind that these appliances and electronics usually contain some harmful elements, which if disposed off carelessly can cause problems to the ground and even water.
In stead, if one could take some time to dispose these appliances and electronics responsibly by recycling them safely and efficiently, it would result in conservation of resources such as water, minerals etc and even protect the environment from those harmful toxic gases released in making these parts again.
Appliances: These are often simply tossed in the garbage cans, which are them picked up by the garbage collectors and trashed in a nearby landfill. Since appliances are usually not degradable, not only do they just take up space in these landfills, but they also contain certain harmful parts, which over a period of time harms the environment. Most do not realise that these large appliances can easily be recycled, as long as the respective states guidelines are followed.
Electronics: Just like appliances, electronics too contain harmful elements, such as mercury, lead etc which if disposed off carelessly can cause damage to the ground and water supply. However these too can easily be recycled. After removing the harmful parts, construction companies can often re-use other parts for various uses, which not only is cost efficient, but beneficial for the environment too.
